Easy with the "same old problems" Toronto's lineup was not what the opening day roster will be and Detroit will almost be the exact same. I don't think you can read into anything regarding stats in pre season...when the season starts and we get to November and the penalty kill is brutal...then you can say "same old problems" The sky is not falling chicken little! Geez Mike, you aren't even a paid reporter for the Leafs and you are writing like a negative nelly...cripes!

Looks like a really young lineup tonight. Recalled a bunch of Marlies and playing all the bubble guys.

And make it to the conference finals in the playoffs.

Only thing I'll remember about this game is how horribly inconsistent the refs were.

They call Franzen for the weakest hook on Gunnarsson that I can remember. Kadri scores a PPG on it and gets the Leafs right back in the game. So bad call impacts the game.

End of the 2nd Kronwall cross checks JVR, from behind, into the boards, without the puck... and no penalty... but they'll call JVR for chirping the ref about it which leads to the Zetterberg PPG at the end of the 2nd which turns out to be the game winner. Once again missed call/bad call has a major impact on the game.

I missed hockey but I sure didn't miss the horrendous inconsistency of the NHL refs.
